Apple may release the next MacBook Pro series later this year without the infamous Touch Bar. According to reports, the touch bar is replaced by function keys. Other rumors of a future lineup of professionals include the inclusion of a USB-C / Thunderbolt port, a clear HDMI port, two USB-C ports, and an SD card slot. The new MacBook Plus is expected to come with a new generation of Apple Silicon processors and a fresh, glazed new design.
As per 9To5Mac, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has claimed in a new report that the technical giant will “cancel” the Touch Bar from its future MacBook Pro configuration, even though it is currently the third largest use of OLED displays. The DSCC also explained that touch bars are still the third-ranked application, with an 18 percent unit share and 1.2 percent revenue in the first quarter of 2021.
“We expect the tablets to cross the touch bars when Apple begins deployment of the 10.9-inch AMOLED iPad. In addition, our sources suggest that Apple may cancel the touch bar in the future,” the DSCC said.
The touchbar was first introduced to select MacBook Pro models in 2016. For versions, it’s an OLED touchscreen located just above the MacBook Pro keyboard. TouchPad dynamic controls provide quick access to system-level shortcuts and provide keyboard shortcuts for the most viewed content on the screen.
Rumors of changing the touchbar have also come up in the past. Well-known analysts from Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman have made similar predictions in the past. Earlier this year, Kuo had claimed The MacBook Pro will go into production during the third quarter of 2021.
Although Gurman of Bloomberg had shared that the new MacBook Pro models will be released “mid-year.”
