Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase was packed with lots of great games, as usual. But the best part is that many of them are out today.
It contains Axiom Verge 2 (continued a Metroid-as an adventure since 2015), Boyfriend Dungeon (a hacking game where you can romance your gun), From Necrobar: Final pour (director’s cut from a visual novel about coffee and death), Archipelago people (a procedurally created strategy game in which players build island communities), Slime Rancher (where players run a foreign ranch), Curious Expedition 2 (described as “a turn-based narrative rogueli set in a reformulated version in the late 19th century”), and The story of the garden (a Zelda-as an action-adventure game where you play as a delightful grape).
In addition to the games coming out today, the event also included several titles that will be released later this year and next. Here is everything listed:
Cold, music-based grip Tetris finally gets the portable version. Tetris effect originally debuted on PS4 before switching to such platforms Xbox and Oculus Quest, and the Switch version has both a single-player campaign and a newer combined multiplayer component. It will launch on October 8.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
A Jet Set Radio-style game about grinding and graffiti. It will come to Switch as the “exclusive timed console” in 2022. (It will also come to other platforms, including Steam.)
East described as an “action adventure game with puzzle solving and dungeon elements” in which players explore the post-apocalyptic future in a beautiful pixel. It comes to Switch on September 16th on an exclusive basis, and pre-orders are open today.
A game about taking photos in a beautiful black and white world. Developers describe Toem As an experience of “talking to strange characters and solving their problems by taking neat photos, you can walk through the many different relaxing areas that have inspired the Scandinavian countryside”. Toem will be coming to Switch this fall.
Lapio Knight: Pocket Dungeon
Page scrolling Lapio Knight series expands with a spinoff that covers the dungeon crawl and puzzle solving. The game was first released last year, and the Switch version will be released this winter.
Metal Slug Tactics
As the name suggests, Metal Slug Tactics take the classic run-and-gun game and turn it into a turn-based tactical experience. It was previously announced for Steam and is expected to come to Switch in 2022.
Charming roguelike Loop Hero launched earlier this year, and soon you can play it on the go. The big turnaround is that instead of dominating the hero directly, you build the world around you. It’s coming to Switch this winter.
Far away: Tide
A meditative adventure game Far: Lone Sails is coming to the sequel (developers say you don’t have to repeat the original to understand) where players reunite in their own boat to explore the flood world. Changing the tide it is expected to launch next year.
