The way we watch and enjoy sports has changed tremendously in recent years, as fans around the world have been able to benefit from a significant increase in the amount of content viewed on TV, computers and mobile devices.
But where is the future of sports broadcasts? In recent years, BT Sport has been at the forefront of a new generation of sports content, offering its customers a wide range of ways to follow and watch all the world’s most popular events and competitions on your TV or smartphone. The company was the first broadcaster to show live content in 4K and UHD formats in 2015, the first to introduce Dolby Atmos in 2016, and in 2019 broadcast the world’s first live 8K test.
Now BT Sport is looking for the next big thing in sports broadcasts – and you could be a part of it.
BT Sportin Innovate 21 the competition is looking for the most interesting ideas for sports broadcasting experiences, whether it’s the production of events always at the viewer’s home. The competition is open to entrepreneurs, creative companies and start-ups, and the winner will have the opportunity to be at the heart of BT Sport’s leading innovation.
Innovate 21 will be judged by a panel of experts including sports legends and BT Sport performers Brian O’Driscoll, Suzi Perry and Robbie Savage in September at a special event to select the winner, led by BT Sport’s Chief Operating Officer Jamie Hindhaugh.
BT Sport is particularly interested in hearing objects such as the BT Sport Matchday Experience, ideas with strong durability, inclusion or accessibility, and ideas that enhance the sports experience.
Past winners have played an important part in BT Sport’s innovations. After winning the 2018 Infinity Lab competition, Sceenic has worked with BT Sport to support last year’s release of Watch Together in the BT Sport app. And the winners of the 2016 edition, Seenit, created a system that allowed fans to post short video reports and comments from the country’s stadium as part of BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight.
So if you have a burning idea for your next good idea, change the way you watch sports – now’s your chance. Innovate 21 events open on May 5 and end on July 31 – so don’t delay, you will receive your notification now.
