After the Apple app store was mysteriously closed for an hour on Tuesday, Apple re-introduced it with a new look and its own tab in the company’s top-level navigation. The new look of the store is reminiscent of Apple’s iOS app.
The revamped Apple App Store is full of cards and has a pretty mobile first impression, allowing for smooth scrolling on the phone, but it’s not quite as silky on a desktop or laptop. The revamped store features images and links to Apple product lines (Mac, iPhone, AirPods, etc.) at the top of the store. Some links will take you to new specialty store product pages that show availability, as well as helpful resources such as shopping guides, accessories, and support.
The main page has sections on new things, links to support pages, and more. The pages that lead to user purchases remain unchanged.
The store’s look is said to be updated pending the arrival of the company’s rumored new lineup, which includes the iPhone 13, new AirPods and the new MacBook Prot.
