Yamaha Motor India has today released a special edition inspired by motorsports based on its FZ25 motorcycle – the Yamaha FZ25 MotoGP Edition. In the past, Yamaha has provided MotoGP-derived liver materials for both the Yamaha R15 and FZ25, and has now introduced a new version of the current FZ25 that uses a color reminiscent of the 2021 Yamaha MotoGP mountain bike. The Yamaha FZ25 MotoGP Edition is priced at Rs 1,36800, which is exactly Rs 2,000 more than the standard Yamaha FZ25.
For an added Rs 2,000, the FZ25 features a two-tone paint system – combining the colors of metallic black and Racing Blue on a regular bike – as well as Monster Energy, Yamalube and Eneos badges plastered on the fuel tank covers, side panels and even the front fender; as cycling enthusiasts have seen in Yamaha’s current MotoGP racing machine.
Apart from this, no other changes have been made to the Yamaha FZ25 MotoGP Edition. For starters, both the Yamaha FZ25 and FZS 25 are powered by a 249 cc air-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that produces 20.8 hp and 20.1 Nm of torque. Both wheels come standard with a five-speed gearbox, all LED lights, 17-inch wheels, disc brakes at the front and rear, and dual-channel ABS.
Yamaha has also said it will release more MotoGP-themed versions of its other two-wheeled vehicles in the future to mark the fruitful current formula that the manufacturer is enjoying in MotoGP. Currently, Yamaha leads the championship in all three rankings – Team, Constructor and Rider.
At the beginning of June this year, Yamaha Motor India had gash prices for both FZ25 and FZS 25 at a massive Rs 19,000, citing success in lowering production costs as the reason for the price drop. In their revised prices, the Yamaha FZ25 and FZS 25 are closer to smaller capacity models such as the Honda Hornet 2.0 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
