Ducati Multistrada V4 launched in India for 18.99 L Lakh, first bicycle radar aid – Technology News, Firstpost

Ducati has finally launched its flagship adventure traveler, the Ducati Multistrada V4, in India. The basic Ducati Multistrada V4 costs Rs 18.99 (lakh ex-showroom), while the higher-end Multistrada V4 S puts you back at 23.10 lh or 23.30 lh, depending on which of the two color options you choose. The new Multistrada models are scheduled to arrive in showrooms across India by the beginning of next week.

The Multistrada V4 runs on the all-new V4 GranTurismo engine, which is tuned to better match the sport-tourer character of this motorcycle, unlike the Desmosedici Stradale V4, which offers more explosive power in the Ducati Panigale V4 and Ducati Streetfighter V4. Inside this monochrome body made of Ducat aluminum, the V4 produces 172 hp at 10,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 8750 rpm.

The unique part of this engine is that it digs a complex Desmodromic valve system and instead a simpler spring valve return system. This change in engine valve closing technology led to a huge extension of the service interval, 60,000 km, which is more than double that of the older V-twin-powered Ducati Multistrada 1260.

The most significant feature of the new Multistrada V4 is its driver assistance system for the front and rear radar. The Multistrada V4 is the first production bike to ever use such technology. The front radar allows for the operation of an adaptive cruise control that controls the speed of the Multistrada V4 based on the distance of the vehicle moving forward, while the rear radar sensor detects and signals drivers at blind spots approaching vehicles through rear lights view mirrors. The Multistrada V4 S will also be offered with spool tires later this year.

For its electronics packages, the Ducati Multistrada V4 gets an updated IMU with ABS cornering, wheel steering with eight level settings and cornering anti-skid. The better-equipped Multistrada V4 S has cornering lights, vehicle holder control, two-way quick shift and cruise control.
