Today is the fourth of May – or “Star Wars Day,” as the franchising fandom knows – many of us were waiting for some kind of announcement or revelation from Disney, and the boy made it through.
To celebrate today’s celebration, the official Disney Parks Twitter account gave the public for the first time an overview of a product we know will be coming for some time: a retractable light game that is closer to real than ever before.
The 13-second video is just a tiger. Still, it’s amazing to see a copy of a lightsaber that doesn’t need to be turned upside down to pull the blade.
Watch the official revelation from the tweet below:
Star Wars: #GalacticStarcruiser @WaltDisneyWorld Resort takes you to a distant galaxy from 2022 for an immersive vacation experience 💫 What exactly does “all-encompassing” mean? Well, here’s a little hint … https://t.co/mitmfBRW8t # MayThe4thBeWithYou pic.twitter.com/Wo11937V4bMay 4, 2021
Star Wars fans have clearly enjoyed exposing the lightsaber
Although we knew about the retractable light game for a few weeks Star Wars fans could not restrain their enthusiasm for the revelation now.
Responses to the Disney Parks message were naturally filled Star Wars gif and much “It is true!“type of answers and, frankly, it’s encouraging to see. Despite your opinions on the latest Star Wars trilogy and how good or bad some items are, it’s great to see fans generally rejoice at the revelation of the lightweight.
As for when you get to one of them, it may still be some time. As part of his tweet, Disney Parks hinted that retractable light mills would be part of the “all-encompassing vacation experience” at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Swords of Light are likely to be available for purchase at the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel, which is scheduled to open for some time this year. We don’t know how much they cost, or if you have to stay at a hotel to get one. Hopefully it won’t be long before Disney notifies us so we can all start booking our 2022 vacation to Walt Disney World.
