As the smart watch market becomes more and more saturated, every brand has to deliver something unique to stand out from the crowd. As one of the big names in the game, Garmin is trying to do just that with the new Forerunner 945 LTE and Forerunner 55.
Forerunner 945 LTE
The purpose of the 945 LTE is to give you everything you could ever ask for in a sports watch. Garmin has packaged it with all the technology and functionality it offers, making it a flagship product. One of the features that makes the Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE most distinctive is the ability to send your name and location to the Garmin IERCC. It is a 24/7 staffed professional emergency coordination center that can contact and communicate with local rescue services.
If that wasn’t enough security for you, the watch also has a LiveTrack feature that allows your friends and family to see your location in real time and even view your entire pre-planned course. Other health features include an oximeter to measure blood oxygen levels and a heart rate monitor.
Of course you can still use Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE as an everyday smart watch for replying to messages, listening to music (which can be stored), contactless payments and more. Garmin claims the battery can last 2 weeks in smart watch mode and 7 hours in GPS mode with music and LTE LiveTrack. All of this is a tough price of $ 649.99.
945 LTE’s little brother is Predecessor 55, and its purpose is on the second spectrum of the scale. It’s for those who don’t need all the extra features that a big guy offers and want to stick to the basics.
It has key features for health and exercise tracking, such as a heart monitor and GPS, but it stays with others, such as the ability to record music or flagship LTE-enabled features.
Nonetheless, 55 seems to be a choice most people would make, especially for those with a more relaxed fitness lifestyle. The whole package looks even more attractive with a $ 199.99 price tag.
