If you have a problem with your non-warranty Pixel 4 XL, you may receive a free repair. Google recently sent a support page outlines a “one-year extended repair program” for the larger of its two 2019 flagships. Eligible people can receive a free repair for one year from the end of the original guarantee. As far as this program is concerned, Google refers to certain power issues.
More specifically, the company says these are issues that “may” get a free fix:
- Pixel 4 XL that cannot be started
- The Pixel 4 XL turns on or off randomly without user intervention
- Power supply charging problems
- Wireless charging issues
- Pixel 4 XL’s battery drains “significantly faster than before”
It has a fairly wide range of possible ways to get a repair program. But Google warns that if there are other major problems with your phone (such as a damaged screen) that “prevent” a free repair, they need to be fixed first – and for a fee.
Pixel 4 XL owners can bring their own devices uBreakiFix store whether it is entitled to free repair. By Android police, the workshop staff in these places are well aware of the situation. You can also initiate the repair process directly with Google to see if your issue is covered.
An extended repair program is available in the United States, Canada, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan. Google clarifies No applies in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain or the United Kingdom. This is because Pixel 4 XL products purchased in these countries were already covered by a longer two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
