The Google Pixel 5a 5G is likely to work with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, according to the report. This is the same chip that works with Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G, which were launched last year. Google has already confirmed that the handset will be available later this year. While the Pixel 5a 5G is likely to be a mid-range option, the flagship Google Pixel 6 – the successor to Pixel 5 – is also reportedly coming.
9to5Google reports that they have found several references to the codename “Barbet” – which is believed to be a codename by name Pixel 5a 5G – Last Android 12 Developer Preview. The references were alongside the model number “sm7250” which is said to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC part number. The same SoC works too Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G.
Earlier this month, a report that the Pixel 5a 5G has not been canceled and will be available later this year in the US and Japan. Although Google has not confirmed the upcoming Indian launch for the Pixel 5a 5G, the previous one tip claimed that the phone was found on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) list, which also suggests its debut in India.
At the same time a previous report Google claims that Google is developing its own SoC for Pixel 6. It is internally referred to as ‘GS101’ Whitechapel SoC. The processor is said to have been developed in conjunction with Samsung. Whitechapel is rumored to be a chip code name, but the company may call it commercially completely different.
