HBO Max will launch an ad-supported level in June for $ 9.99 per month, offering a cheaper option than the full $ 14.99 per month no ads subscription. News was reported During the WarnerMedia presentation to advertisers today. The price and release date were rumored last month.
With 64 million subscribers, the streaming service has designed an ad-supported level as a way to reach a wider audience. The price makes it cheaper than a regular Netflix plan, although it still costs more than Disney Plus. HBO promises the “lightest ad load” in the industry, but it includes new ad formats, such as “pause ads,” which show ads while shows are paused.
Ad-free subscribers get access to the “complete HBO Max content list,” but with one big exception: they can’t access Warner Bros. movies that are premiered on the same day as in theaters.
The service will launch in the first week of June and will expand to 39 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean by the end of the month. In Europe, WarnerMedia plans to transfer HBO-branded streaming services to HBO Max by the end of 2021.
If you still don’t want to pay for HBO Max, WarnerMedia is by designing another way to look at some of its offerings: it will broadcast some streaming service programs on TNT and TBS this summer.
