IFA 2021 has been officially revoked due to “health uncertainty”

Originally planning a full return to Berlin in September, IFA 2021 organizers have announced that this year’s edition of the Consumer Electronics Fair has been canceled.

IFA 2022 is now the focus

The organizers mentioned “the rapid emergence of new COVID-19 variants around the world” and “continued uncertainty” about the speed of withdrawal of global vaccine introduction programs. Bloomberg, more than 1.51 billion doses of vaccine have been given worldwide, averaging about 25 million a day. Most of these are divided into the United States, Europe and China.

In addition, part of the Messe Berlin exhibition area, where the IFA is held annually, is still in use as a vaccination center and emergency hospital. Both are likely to take longer than originally expected. In this sense, IFA 2021 has been canceled and the organizers are now thinking of IFA 2022.

Interestingly, MWC 2021 is still technically happening as a personal event from June 28th to July 1st. However, big names like Samsung have already withdrawn, so a full cancellation in the coming weeks would be nowhere near surprising.
