Instagram is testing a new way for users to share their stories on the platform. Users will now see a “reshare” label that, when selected, will display the “Recently Viewed” tab. This tab contains messages that users have seen, liked, sent or saved in the last hour. These messages also include all reels and IGTV videos. This eliminates the need for users to manually search for a specific message. The feature is now available for iOS users. There’s no word on whether it’s available to Android users or not.

A Instagram representative said TechCrunch“We know that people find shared content sometimes less interesting, personal and fun. We hope that with this new test experience, people will be encouraged to be more purposeful and thoughtful in sharing things that are important to them,” Vishal Shah, Product VP, Instagram, also confirmed. He tweeted about the new feature on Twitter, saying, “People tell us they prefer original Stories content over redistributed messages, so we’re testing a new way to redistribute labels. We hope people are more purposeful when sharing. That creates a better story experience for everyone.”

This feature allows users to rethink before sharing a message with their friends on the platform. In addition to this, iOS users have also got the Stories UI design, where they now see the download icon, “Your Story” and “Close Friends” at the bottom. Other editing and text tools still appear at the top.
