MG Motor India has added a Savvy 7-seater version to its flagship SUV, the MG Gloster. Since its launch last year, the MG Gloster — in the high-end Savvy format — was only available in six-seater. However, when customers want to choose the seven-seat option with a fully loaded version, the company has now introduced the MG Gloster Savvy 7-seater, which replaces the six-seat model with a second-row captain’s bench-type seat. The MG Gloster Savvy 7-seater is priced at Rs 37.28 lakh, which is the same price as the Savvy 6-seater version (ex-showroom).
In addition to the change of seats, the 7-seater MG Gloster Savvy is no different from other Gloster. As a high-end variant, the Savvy includes several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as well as all other SUV features such as a panoramic roof, electric driver’s seat with heating, ventilation, massage and memory functions, including 12-speaker audio system, 360-degree cameras, blind spot control, adaptive cruise control hands-free parking.
The MG Gloster is available with two diesel engine options — a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 163 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque; this device is only available in Super and Smart versions. Another option is a twin-turbo version of the same 2.0-liter diesel, which produces a remarkable 218 hp and 480 Nm of torque. This engine is only available for Sharp and Savvy versions, which also have an optional four-wheel drive system and selectable driving modes. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on both engines.
In India, MG Gloster competes with Ford Endeavor, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X.
