Microsoft is currently working to fix the Outlook issue

Microsoft has confirmed that there is a problem with Outlook for desktop and Microsoft365 where e-mail text disappears as you type. In addition, it has been reported that Outlook users have received e-mails without text in message mode.

The computer giant says it is now working on a fix that should be available on Tuesday, May 11 at 9 p.m. PT.

“Users need to restart the Outlook client before the fix can be applied after it is received,” Microsoft said in a tweet. In message added to its status page for the service: “In some circumstances, users may need to restart their customer a second time for the changes to take effect.”

It also noted that Outlook for web and mobile devices does not appear to be affected, suggesting both workarounds until the fix is implemented. However, some users have disputed Microsoft’s claim that the system works for network users, although it seems that Google’s Chrome browser may offer a better chance of success than Microsoft’s Edge option.

We’ve identified the cause and will apply a fix that will reach the affected users within the next 3-4 hours. Users must restart the Outlook client for the patch to take effect after it is received. We expect the service to be returned to the affected users on May 12, 2021 at 3:00 PM UTC.

The problem affecting users worldwide started today and seems to be related to a Microsoft365 an update released earlier on Wednesday.

One Massachusetts user posted a video to Twitter that shows exactly what’s going on …

If you are using Outlook for desktop, you probably have this problem as well. I only spent an hour trying to figure out why the hell my text disappeared when I hit Enter, only to find that it’s a widespread problem these days.

Others hit a social media forum to express their annoyance, and some are concerned about how it might affect their work schedules …

One can believe that I have spent the last two hours trying to solve this problem, reinstalling three times and even thinking about reinstalling the whole system. I have a team meeting tomorrow. Thanks a lot.

What if you first move users to some isolated servers, then upgrade and test, and then move users to well-known good production servers. Never test poorly written software on production servers. If we had an alternative to 365, we would recommend it to our customers.

UPDATE: Microsoft has just tweeted to say that fixing the issue is on the way in the near future.

The implementation of our fix is progressing as expected, and we still expect it to be completed on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 3:00 AM UTC.
