More than 20 free Roku Originals performances will premiere on Friday


Roku will be putting much of its huge Quibi content transport to work starting Friday.

On August 13, nearly two dozen Roku Originals will be showcased on the Roku channel. Many have not previously performed elsewhere, including a series hosted by Josh Groban called Eye food based on a Japanese performance Sugar Confectionery, cleaning competition exhibition Spotless, the second season of the pay-it-forward series Thank you very muchand a 10-part documentary series What’s going on in Hollywood the power dynamics of the entertainment industry.

In addition, Emmy nominee Quibi comedy The murders of Mapleworth also debuted in service this week. The full list of 23 Roku Originals that hit the service on Friday includes:

According to the company, Roku Originals was ranked in the content of the top five TV venues broadcast on the Roku Channel live stream service from May 20 to July 18 (based on unique views). The Roku channel’s streaming time has also doubled in the second quarter of the year compared to the previous year, when originals were added to the platform.

“Although only a few months have passed since the launch of Roku Originals, the response has been overwhelming,” Brian Tannenbaum, Roku’s director of alternative programming, said in a statement. Tannenbaum added that the company intends to continue building its exclusivity “through this next initial programming.”
