Interview Wired provides little information about the upcoming PlayStation Studios tube. By Sony’s global studios director Hermen Hulst, currently more than 25 first-party teams PS5 games under development. Of these 25 titles, “nearly half” have been reported as new IP addresses, not extensions or new ones.
“There are an incredible amount of different varieties in different regions,” Hulst says. “Big, small, different genres.”
Looking at the games just announced, we have Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, the next god of war and Gran Turismo 7. At the same time, two independent teams: Haven and Firewalk Studios have announced release offers. This would be six titles, leaving 19 books.
There are other games that have not been officially announced, but which it is logical to consider in the given total as well, such as the rumored remake of The Last of Us and the next (now multi-level) MLB game from Sony San Diego. .
What the near future will bring
In this interview, Sony also reiterated that Horizon Forbidden West will be available on PS4 and PS5 sometime later this year. Hulst explained some of the challenges the Guerrilla Games team has faced with this title working through a global pandemic, such as recording sound from home and taking call tests PlayStation now.
Although Horizon Forbidden West is available on both current and latest-generation Sony platforms, the PS5 version uses DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to simulate the feeling of actually twisting a string of strings or walking through the grass.
