MSI’s Creator Z16 is the MacBook Pro competitor you want

MSI has unveiled its new laptop Creator series, the Z16, and it is without a doubt a MacBook Pro option. It’s 16 inches creator-centric laptop silver frame, black keys and aluminum single frame. It even matches the screen size (16 inches), resolution (2500 x 1600) and aspect ratio (16:10) 16-inch MacBook Pro.

But there’s also quite a bit to be found in the Creator Z16, which can make it an attractive alternative to the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

First, this 16-inch panel has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Higher refresh rates have been exclusive gaming laptops so far, and a feature that Apple has opposed bringing to its Mac. The most obvious application for a higher refresh rate is gaming, but it’s also a quality of life feature that makes simple tasks like scrolling and animation much smoother.

It also offers a wider range of ports, including USB-A, two Thunderbolt 4 and a Micro SD card slot.

The MSI Creator Z16 looks like it has performance spots that fit the design. It has been updated new 11th generation Intel H-series processors, which are eight-core, 45-watt processors. They resemble what the current 16-inch MacBook Pro is currently using, although they should be slightly faster with the optimizations Intel has done in recent years. MSI offers either the Core i7-11800H or the Core i9-11900H.

The MSI Creator Z16 also comes with an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card with new Nvidia Studio drivers. We’ve seen the impressive results of these graphics cards in gaming laptops in recent months, but now Nvidia has brought them to professional laptops with a focus on content providers. When Dynamic Boost is on, they can produce up to 60 watts of power. If you trust Adobe Premiere Pro, these new graphics and drivers need to be useful for your workflow.

Do they exceed current AMD Radeon options on the 16-inch MacBook Pro? Or more importantly, M1X or M2, which will eventually follow suit? We have to wait and see. We also see this update as a popular option, such as Dell XPS 17.

MSI has two configurations for sale. Both models have 32GB of RAM, and you have the option to expand yourself to 64GB. The $ 2,599 configuration has 1 TB of NVMe SSD storage, while the $ 2,599 model has 2 TB of storage.

In addition to performance, the Creator Z16 has slim frames, a touch screen, and the ability to open the screen completely flat 180 degrees. It even includes a key-specific RGB backlight, a rather unique feature for a non-gaming laptop.

The Creator Z16 is 0.64 inches thick and weighs about 5.07 pounds.

The Creator Z16 is just the tip of the iceberg for new MSI laptops. The company has also announced updates to its wide range of gaming laptops and has come across almost all models of Intel’s 11th generation chips. The 17-inch GS76 Stealth has been updated to match the all-black model GS66 Stealth, while the rougher GE76 Raider now offers up to Core i9 and 1440p 240Hz displays.

MSI also highlighted the new cheaper gaming laptops, the Pulse GL66 and the Katana GF. These models support new RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 graphicsas well as Intel’s 11th generation processors. MSI even offers a steep white version of the GF known as the Sword series.

The new equipment will be available from the beginning of June.
