Have a nice Saturday! By posting a trailer rounding off the day at the beginning of the weekend because I’m on vacation from Sunday (and yell at the reader who said I’d rather, when we did the tour on Saturdays, you got your wish at least this weekend).
The internet (or at least the little corner where I live) seemed to be divided into camps this week: people who really like Apple TV Plus Ted Lasso and people who … don’t. Its OK don’t like things! I had a longer voice preparation on how the quest to look good online looks so exhausting, but really, who cares, Ted Lasso has returned to season two and is still a wonderful, warm-hearted show among the very pleasant weirdos.
We ended this week with a very sci-fi-themed tour that wasn’t planning, but happened thanks to several new Comic-Con @ Home releases.
Dune
Beautiful people sincerely look at each other over a vast landscape as the wind circles their hair – for a few seconds Dune the trailer almost feels like a perfume ad. But then we get behind the brass games and the trailer … says a lot about the whole plot of the film, my colleagues Chaim Gartenberg pointed out at first glance. Yes, the sand worm looks like. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, long awaited and often delayed Dune, starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista and Javier Bardem, will be coming to HBO Max and theaters on October 22nd.
Star Trek: Prodigy
In this new 10-episode series, a group of young aliens steal an abandoned Starfleet ship called the USS Protostar, and they are slowly trained like a federation with a hologram version. Star Trek: Voyager’d Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew expresses the character she plays in the series). Star Trek: Prodigy cParamount Plus tablets this fall.
Star Trek: Lower decks
A popular animated series that is fun Star Trek lore returns for a second season following USS Cerritos support staff as they work on the Starfleet’s least important ship. Star Trek: Lower decks is already renovated for the third season, and while last season it took a few episodes to gain a foothold, the show ended up much on the “Best of 2020” lists. Season 2 Star Trek: Lower decks will also debut in Paramount Plus this fall.
The last duel
Based on a true story (and a book by Eric Jager), The last duel tells the 15th century story of the last martial court in France. Jodie Comer (looks very different from eve) plays Marguerite de Carrouges, wife of knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon). He accuses Jacques LeGris (Adam Driver) of rape, which he denies. King Charles VI (Ben Affleck) allows them to sort things out in a duel that determines who is telling the truth. And if her husband loses the duel, Marguerite will be burned on the stake for giving false testimony. Ridley Scott directed The last duel, which will hit theaters on October 15th.
Blade Runner: Black Lotus
This is the first trailer in this anime series that was just unveiled at Comic-Con. Blade Runner: Black Lotus is set in Los Angeles in 2032 – so roughly halfway between Harrison Ford Blade runner movie and Ryan Gosling sequel. A mimic named Elle (Jessica Henwick in the English version and Arisa Shida in the Japanese version) aka Black Lotus has special powers and is chased by some scary people. Directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, English version Blade Runner: Black Lotus will be an adult swim and a Japanese version will be coming to Crunchyroll this fall.
UFO
JJ Abrams is the leading producer of this four-part documentary series, which, according to a Showtime study, explores “tacit theories on the subject that recently reached national headlines,” namely 2017 New York times article secret UFO program at the Department of Defense. UFO debuted at Showtime on August 8th.
