OnePlus has shared that it will introduce a new theme store with the next Android-based operating system, OxygenOS 12. When announcing to its Open Ears Forum (OEF) in May 2021, a OnePlus staff member has shared in the community forum that the next major operating system update will bring Theme Store and the company wants feedback from fans. The deal is a topic of discussion at this year’s OEF, which will be held on May 18th. It’s a virtual event just like last year.
OnePlus holds OEF meetings to discuss with fans and take feedback from them on improvements they can make to their hardware and software. Last year it held its OEF in January where the company asked fans what they wanted to see through software and hardware upgrades in 2020. The topic of discussion at the OEF on 18 May this year is the theme shop. As per forum post, A theme store, which is a highly sought after feature, will be added OxygenOS with the next major operating system update.
OxygenOS 12 is OnePlus’ next operating system, and is likely to be based on it Android 12, such as OxygenOS 11, which was based on Android 11. OnePlus wants to chat with some users before introducing a new theme store in OxygenOS 12. The company didn’t share many details about the upcoming theme store, but said, “If you’re interested in themes and customizing wallpapers, join us, and together we’ll create the perfect theme store for OnePlus”.
The OEF is scheduled to be on May 18 with 15 global users and four staff members. Interested users can Use Selected users will receive a goodie bag from the company that includes a Hasselblad postcard, OEF pin and T-shirt.
Android 12 is running tested right now, and it doesn’t have a release date yet. When Android 11 was released for Google Pixel phones in September 2020, OnePlus was among the first smartphone suppliers release a new operating system – OxygenOS 11 is based on Android 11. It would come as no surprise if OnePlus is also among the first to introduce Android 12.
