OnePlus recently promised three major Android updates and four security fixes by sharing a list of its software support for all OnePlus flagship phones. The brand also announced the OxygenOS code base and Oppo’s ColorOS merger.
Now in the interview XDA developers, OnePlus revealed upcoming additions to the One Plus Nord range. OnePlus Nord 2 is the company’s first phone to run on OxygenOS 11.3 with an integrated code base. OnePlus product manager Oliver Zhang revealed that not many changes will be made to the operating system, even if it is a close cousin of vanilla to OxygenOS.
Zhang also shared information about Nord 2’s AI-based features, including AI Resolution Boost, AI Video Enhancements, AI Color Boost, AI Photo Enhancements, and Nightscape Ultra. According to the report, the AI Color Boost feature “uses the context-aware features of artificial intelligence to detect what users are viewing on the screen from popular applications.” On social media platforms, AI Resolution Boost can automatically enhance low-resolution video to HD.
Other features of the Nord 2 are expected to include a 6.43-inch Full HD + display supported by an AMOLED panel that supports a refresh rate of 90 Hz and an internal fingerprint sensor on the display. The company has confirmed that Nord 2 could be the first OnePlus phone supported by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor and will likely come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage options.
In addition to the features mentioned above, the rear of the Nord 2 can have a triple camera, including a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It can also have a 32 MP forward camera. The OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to come in a 4500 mAh package with fast charging.
The phone is scheduled to launch on July 22nd.
