Apple just introduced its target tracking device called AirTag featuring Ultra Wide Band (UWB) and others to compete with Samsung’s equivalent. So it looks like Chinese technical giant Oppo is preparing to jump on this wagon. Well, real-life images of Oppo Smart Tag have been found online and revealed that it’s probably on cards.

Oppo Smart Tag images refer to a rechargeable battery feature

The well-known tipster Digital Chat Station took over Weibo shares a set of images of what he claims to be a design test version of the upcoming Oppo Smart Tag. This leak reinforces speculation about tracking the Oppo object to compete with people like Apple and Samsung.

Oppo Smart Tag information leak

Of the leaked images, Oppo object tracking appears to be white. One image shows that the item is being tracked with the Ultra Wide Band and the Oppo brand clearly inscribed on it. A notable feature is the presence of a USB Type-C port at the bottom, suggesting that this Oppo object tracking could include a rechargeable battery.

In addition, in terms of features, the UWB etching of the leaked image shows that Oppo Smart Tag can help users accurately track the location of tags. It helps you with directions better than the Bluetooth version. There is no neckband hole, as shown in the Galaxy SmartTag.

Competition with competitors

This makes it more environmentally friendly than its competitors, including Apple AirTag, Samsung SmartTag + and SmartTag. Current Apple and Samsung object tracking does not have the ability to charge them, but these promise one year of battery life. Apple has provided an option to replace the AirTag’s CR2032 battery, but recharging can be a convenient option. We have to wait to know if Oppo object tracking has an IP rating to protect the download port from damaging the tracking device.

When to wait?

Oppo is ready to host the launch event on May 6 in its home country of China. At the launch event, the company is ready to launch a number of products such as Oppo K9, Enco Air, Smart TV and the new Oppo Band. We can expect Smart Tag to be launched alongside these devices as well, but so far there is no official confirmation of this. Until then, we have to take this spill with a touch of salt.
