Following Gujarat and Maharashtra governments, Rajasthan has now announced its own initiative to increase the introduction of electric vehicles in the state. Rajasthan Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas announced that the state will support electric vehicle buyers by offering a rebate on the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) and continuing the one-off incentive, which is – just like in other states – decided on the battery capacity of the vehicle sold.

Rajasthan EV Policy 2021: Electric Kickboards and Motorcycles Cheaper

The great impact of Rajasthan EV 2021 policy is reflected in the prices of electric two-wheelers. All electric kickboards and motorcycles sold and registered in the state on April 1, 2021-31. Between March 2022, are eligible for SGST compensation. The SGST amount paid to the buyer of the electric bike is equal to the amount stated on the invoice of the seller of the vehicle. The district traffic manager transfers the final amount directly to the buyers.

But what makes an even bigger difference is the one-time incentive offered to e-bike buyers. Electric kickboards and motorcycles with a battery capacity of up to 2 kWh can receive support of Rs 5,000. Models with a battery capacity of 2 to 4 kWh can receive an incentive of Rs 7,000; Those with a battery capacity of 4-5 kWh will receive an incentive of Rs 9,000, while e-bicycles with a battery capacity of more than 5 kWh will receive an incentive of Rs 10,000.

It should be noted that there is currently no electric scooter or motorcycle on sale in India with a battery capacity of at least 4 kWh, so none of the current models can use the full support offered. The aid is also much lower than that offered in Gujarat (Rs 10,000 / kWh, with a total aid limit of Rs 20,000) and Maharashtra (Rs 5,000 / kWh, the total budget is currently limited to Rs 25,000).

Ather Energy – which has a point of sale in Jaipur – is likely to see the prices of its electric kickboards fall by around Rs 9,000-10,000 as they can be provided with an incentive of Rs 7,000 depending on their battery size and the SGST amount is roughly Rs 3,000. The price of the Ather 450 Plus for about 1.16 lacquer and the price of the Ather 450X for about 1.35 lacquer.

In its current form, Revolt Motors does not operate in Rajasthan, but has issued a statement emphasizing that buyers of the Rajasthan Revolt RV400 could receive a total incentive of Rs 10,690. If the price of a bike showroom in Rajasthan turns out to be the same as in other states, the actual cost to buyers will be about 97,000 rubles.

Also, prices for most Hero Electric and Okinawa Autotech models are likely to drop from around 7,000 to 10,000 in Rajasthan.

In addition, Rajasthan offers similar subsidies to e-rickshaws and hauliers, and the one-time incentive ranges from 10,000 to 20,000.

Rajasthan EV Policy 2021: Not much support for electric cars and SUVs

It comes as a surprise to some that the policy does not cover electric cars and SUVs, and avoids offering big incentives to buyers of such vehicles. One-off support is only available to buyers of e-tricycles and tricycles.

However, the policy states that all Electric Vehicles sold until March 2022 are eligible for SGST compensation, so buyers of electric cars and SUVs can take advantage of this benefit, even if it is only a fraction of the price of the vehicle they purchase.

In contrast, Gujarat offers massive subsidies of RH 1.5 million to buyers of electric vehicles. Maharashtra agrees that by offering an additional RH 1 million ‘early bird’ subsidy – bringing the total state subsidy paid to electric car buyers to 2.5 strikes – to those who make a purchase before the end of 2021.
