Some Apple HomePod users report that their smart speaker can no longer find songs Apple Music, after the recent HomePod 14.5 update. The update was released in late April with “bug fixes” and was quickly followed by a new “bug fixes and performance improvements”.
By 9to5Mac, the problem occurs when trying to play songs or artists with the Hey Siri command when multiple users use Twitter to express their concerns.
Ok anyone else with a HomePod and Apple Music – can you get it to play something right now? No matter what I ask today, I only get “I couldn’t find xxx on Apple Music,” the only working query is “play music,” which plays content from my iTunes library 😂 pic.twitter.com/CW1Nyh23s4May 5, 2021
@AppleSupport HomePod can no longer find anything on Apple Music, I just get “I couldn’t find XXXX on Apple Music” from anything I asked for.May 5, 2021
By What is Hi-Fi?Some users have been able to resume normal Apple Music playback by restoring the HomePod at the factory. If that doesn’t work, you can try sending songs from iPhone to your smartphone using AirPlay, even if that’s not the right solution to the problem.
Hey hey, HomePod
For sale for the first time in early 2018, The Apple HomePod smart speaker was recently discontinuedwhen Apple has focused all its attention on smaller (and cheaper) HomePod Mini instead.
In a statement, Apple said that “The HomePod Mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering its customers amazing sound, a smart assistant and smart home management for just $ 99. We will focus our efforts on the HomePod Mini.”
The news was a surprise; after all, Apple had just given the HomePod volume Dolby Atmos support as well as the ability to double as an intercom system such as the HomePod mini. In addition, both the HomePod and the HomePod mini now support voice control Deezer, so updates are still coming.
Although Apple has confirmed that the original HomePod will continue to receive software updates, we don’t know how long it will take. And once your current inventory is depleted, you can no longer buy a new HomePod.
It’s not clear if Apple plans to release a new smart speaker that sits next to the HomePod mini, but since Apple stopped using the HomePod, we’ve seen several patents suggesting that the new HomePod is on the cards.
