Dell has announced an upgrade to the popular one XPS 15 and XPS 17 laptops, by copying graphics to the latest Nvidia graphics cards. Line up with Nvidia’s own announcement, these laptops now have the latest Nvidia Studio drivers and RTX 30 series graphics.

The XPS 15 can now be configured with the RTX 3050 Ti or 3050, while the XPS 17 can even handle the RTX 3060 (optional on the 3050 Ti). They may not sound too impressive if you are used to higher quality graphics processors gaming laptops, but not all versions of these portable graphics cards are made equal. Dell pointed out that the XPS 17’s RTX 3060 is a 70-watt version.

XPS 15 and 17 have always been impact laptops for video editing and the creation of other graphics-intensive content, and the RTX 30 series will no doubt merge the trade.

In addition to graphics, these new Dell XPS laptops are enhanced by new Intel processors. They’re coming now 11th generation H45 Tiger Lake chipsbased on Intel’s 10nm SuperFin architecture. You have to pay the top dollar for Core i9 models, but the outgoing Core i5-11400H now has six cores, which is two cores more than the previous generation. This configuration is intended for more causal use as it does not have a separate graphics card. If the performance is true, they are likely to be among them the best laptops you can buy.

The XPS 15 exceeds the Core i9-11900H, while the XPS 17 gets an alternative to the unlocked Core i9-11900HK. Intel has not yet determined how much overclocking is possible with this thin laptop.

The XPS 15 and 17 are still the thinnest and coolest large laptops you can buy, especially considering the performance you get. It hasn’t changed this time, and it’s not an option for ultra-high resolution 3840 x 2400 monitors. These are calibrated with a 100% AdobeRGB color scale, making them ideal for accurate color classification.

The Dell XPS 17 starts at $ 1,450. This basic configuration comes with a Core i5-11400H, integrated Intel UHD graphics, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a 1920 x 1200 resolution display. The XPS 15, on the other hand, starts at $ 1,250 for an almost identical configuration. Both laptops can be configured with up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of NVMe SSD.

Dell has not shared exact details of when these new laptops will be available, but said they should go on sale sometime in the summer.
