It’s been a bitter sweet week for Galaxy Guardians of the Guardians fans, but director James Gunn has hinted that the illegal intergalactic force at Marvel could return – in some form – after the release of the third installment of the franchise program in 2023.
We recently reported The tweet sent by Gunn suggests he expects Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to be “his last” film in the series, following previous comments in 2020 that point to the same news.
In the new TweetHowever, The Suicide Squad director has sparked speculation about the future of franchising. In response to the question of whether the next batch would be the last time we see the Guardians on the big screen, Gunn suggested that it “depends on how you configure the Guardians.”
Probably depends on how you configure the “guards”.May 7, 2021
Could this mean the Galaxy Guardians of Vol. 4 is on the cards? Sounds like, albeit with a caveat, that Guardians 3 is likely to be the last in a series featuring Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, Drax and Mantis.
Guardians 3 also reports another favorite of Guardians comic book fans – Adam Warlock. James Gunn denied that the character’s throwing calls were underway in March, but there’s still a chance he could lead the team if people like Star-Lord don’t return. The appearance of Warlock’s Guardians 3 was bullied at the end of Guardians 2, so it’s possible.
We already know that the upcoming film is likely to be Dave Bautista’s last trip to Draxina, the actor says A digital spy: “I have responsibilities in Guardians 3, and that’s probably the end of Drax.”
It doesn’t necessarily mean the end of Drax’s character, the mind. Lately Tweet, Bautista clarified that “Drax isn’t going anywhere,” rather, that he simply won’t continue Arthur Douglas ’role in future films. “I expect everything to start to fall apart in a second now,” he added.
Drax is not going anywhere. He’s not just playing him. When G️ G3 appears, I am 54 years old for the sake of the gods! 😱 Im waiting for everything to start hanging in a second. 😂 https://t.co/eRJR6ZPtE2May 8, 2021
For Marvel fans, the news is then sweet and sour. Given Bautista’s close relationship with James Gunn, it’s almost certain that neither will return to future Guardians projects – especially when both point to their departure.
But despite their departures, both Baut and Gunn have provided a promising glimpse of the hope that the Guardians will return to Vol.
However, the freedom of creativity offered by Disney Plus comes as no surprise that these mega-popular characters aren’t likely to be put to rest. But even if we could have expected a spin-off set à la Falcon and winter soldier, the fourth long-running Guardians movie wasn’t the kind of thing many expected to be on the cards.
Of course, we have a better idea of the direction the franchise can go when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives on May 5, 2023 – it may not be the big broadcast that many were waiting for.
Under no circumstances should you hold on to elderly Drax.
