Future Galaxy Z Fold 3 is, of course, Samsung’s flagship foldable phone from 2021, and the latest data leaking from the phone suggests we don’t see a big update in terms of download speeds.
Documents that go through the Chinese regulator 3C and have noticed them GSMArena point to a 25W rated charger for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, so it looks like high-end super-fast charging is not available in this update.
The charger supplied with 25 W is equivalent to the charger supplied with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 This was unveiled in September 2020. This fold offers 25W wired charging and 11W wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging (so you can blend smaller devices into the back of the handset).
It’s not impossible to think that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will support a faster charging speed if you go out and buy a more powerful charger for it – phone manufacturers have pulled this trick in the past – but at this point it looks like the battery charge data is likely to match the phone’s predecessor.
Previous leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with a smaller battery than the Z Fold 2, dropping to 4300 mAh from 4500 mAh. The main screen is apparently also shrinking from 7.6 inches to 7.5 inches.
All of this makes us think that the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is likely to be more of a development than a revolution in the folding phone market. We are waiting for Samsung to launch the clam Galaxy Z Flip 3 folded at the same time.
One update that is tilted for both phones is some kind IP water resistance rating – Not a bad feature of Samsung technology, given how many moving parts and open gaps there are in such foldable devices.
Top level Snapdragon 888 the chipset is likely to be powered by Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, so the performance department will have no problems. It’s not clear when the phones will look, but it can be already in June.
