Today is the day – Tata Motors is ready to re-introduce the Tigor EV with its Ziptron technology, which promises to significantly improve performance and range. A few years ago, Tata had introduced the Tigor EV to authorities and equipment buyers, and in 2019 it was also made available to private buyers, but found few buyers because its range and performance were somewhat limited. However, Tata now promises to address these concerns by introducing the revamped Tigor EV with Ziptron technology.

Technically, the Tigor EV was never discontinued — a few weeks ago, it was converted to the Xpres-T and placed only in the Navy’s bid. However, despite the facelift, the compact electric sedan continued its older 72-volt architecture and 21.5 kWh battery. Tata’s Ziptron technology – introduced with the Tata Nexon EV – features much better features than the Xpres-T transmission.

Tata’s Ziptron motor vehicles feature a high-voltage synchronous electromagnetic motor of more than 300 volts, which is in series ahead of the 72-volt AC induction type motor in terms of performance. In the Nexon EV, Tata installed a larger 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, and while it is not yet known whether the Tigor EV has the same size battery, but if so, it is clear that its range is much higher than the Xpres-T’s 213 km alleged distance and is likely to remove the 300 km limit. Tata Motors had previously revealed that Ziptron vehicles have a range of at least 250 kilometers, so the range of the new Tigor EV is sure to violate this figure.

The performance of the new Tata Tigor EV is also a leap and a half compared to the performance of the Xpres-T. Its engine is likely to produce more than 120 hp and 240 Nm of torque, which should bless the Tigor EV at speeds of 0-100 km / h in less than 10 seconds and top speeds of over 100 km / h. In addition, Ziptron technology allows the Tigor EV to be charged quickly from 0- To 80 percent in about an hour; a significant improvement over the Xpres-T, which takes about twice as long.

The cake on top of the cake is the CCS2 charging standard that Tigor EV adheres to, giving it access to India’s rapidly expanding EV charging network. And on top of all that, the Tata Tigor EV is likely to be below the price of the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently priced at 13.99 million to 16.85 million rubles (ex-showroom).

The launch of the new Tata Tigor EV is likely to take place in the coming weeks, and it is a good time as several states – including Maharashtra and Gujarat – have introduced profitable incentives for electric car buyers. Maharashtra in particular is currently offering support of up to 2.5 million rubles for electric cars and SUVs, from which the new Tata Tigor EV is likely to benefit greatly.
