UK government sets new climate change target to reduce emissions by 78%

The British government has announced it must set the law as “the world’s most ambitious climate change target.” By 2035, it aims to reduce the country’s emissions by 78 percent from 1990 levels.

For the first time, the latest carbon budget will also take into account the UK’s share of international aviation and purchasing emissions and ultimately help the UK achieve ‘more than three quarters of its net result by 2050’. It also means that the United Kingdom is complying with the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to less than 2 ° C.
