The culture of working from home and online classes have helped several sectors, such as broadband, telecommunications and electronics, increase revenue. Similarly, Canon has also reported high standards for home printers and small office printers. In fact, the company has recently announced the launch of two new printers for small offices.

What is the impact of COVID-19 on Canon’s business in India?
The pandemic has affected the whole printer in the industry, we were able to maintain our momentum in the Inkjet segment due to the growing demand for home printers and small office printers. We have increased our market share in the inkjet product group.
How is the growth of home printers?
Working from home and studying at home have increased the demand for home printers. This change in usage has boosted the growth of home printers, as demand for home segment inkjet printers has grown by 15-20 percent.
In addition, our PIXMA G Series has received good feedback in the market and has been widely accepted in the home and office segments due to lower operating costs and higher capital employed. In addition, we are seeing the scale of photo printing growth.
What is the market share of the printer segment and how are you going to increase it this year?
According to the latest Q1 2021 report, we have a 23 percent market share in the inkjet product group and 24 percent in the laser class. We want to continue this growth curve and aim to further increase our presence in the inkjet segment in the coming years while maintaining a profitable commercial market share in the laser segment as well.
What is Canon’s strategy for the Indian market?
We will continue to supply high quality products, after sales support and expand our coverage to regions of India. One of the most important strategies we have put in place to reach our customers has been to accelerate our B2C channel, strengthen our retail presence, and promote e-commerce.
This approach has indeed helped us maintain our market share, and we will continue to build our presence in the home segment as well as the SME and work segments of the inkjet product group. We also expect to be able to increase our commercial B2B expansion with a strong presence in GeM.
What else can you expect from Canon this year in terms of products? How many printers are in the works?
As we move forward, we will further expand our offerings from our best-selling series, improved photo longevity and affordable printing for photo studios, businesses, home regions and creative work.
