Updated Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos launched in India, AT variants have paddle changers- Technology News, Firstpost

A few days ago after announcing a new brand in the country, Kia India has today launched 2021 Kia Seltos and 2021 Kia Sonet, and both SUVs have received some key additions. The 2021 Kia Seltos is priced at 9.95 to 17.65 lakh, while the 2021 Kia Sonet prices range from 6.79 to 13.25 lakh (all prices, from showroom). Both SUVs are now more expensive by a considerable margin, but in addition to the sport of the new Kia logo, there are also a few features and changes to equipment levels in various variations.

One of the key additions to the Kia Seltos is the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). Kia first pulled this ‘clutchless’ transmission into its Sonet compact SUV and now also offers it with larger Seltos with a new HTK + 1.5 petrol engine priced at 12.19 floors. It’s Rs 40,000 more than the HTK + version with manual transmission, but the iMT version also gets an automatic air conditioning and an electric sunroof, both of which are missing from the corresponding manual option.

In addition, the Kia Seltos GTX + 7 DCT and GTX + AT versions now have paddle changers. There’s also a new GTX (O) option with black and white beige faux leather chairs, and an electronic stability control is now available from the HTX trim. UVO-connected car technology has also been updated and now brings new features such as a voice-controlled sunroof and a driver-side window.

Similarly, Kia Sonet gets two new versions – HTX diesel-automatic and HTX 1.0 DCT. Noise selectors are now standard on all Kia Sonet automatic options, and just like the Seltot, the compact SUV gets a voice-controlled sunroof.

The electric sunroof is now available from the HTK + iMT model onwards, and 16-inch alloy wheels are now available from the HTX version onwards. The smart key with push-button start and remote engine start features is now available starting with HTK + accessories (1.5 diesel and 1.0 turbo only).

Both Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos will continue with the same engine options as before.

In related news, Kia will enter a new market segment in early 2022. It is rumored that this new model is a brand new Kia MPV, which is likely to rank between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta, in both size and price.
