Elizabeth Olsen has already been confirmed to repeat her role as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange and the Diversity of Madness before the premiere of the show, many fans expected to see Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme performer WandaVision set up a duo screen Doctor Strange sequel.
Although the Cumberbatch cameo never materialized, Kevin Feige, the superiority of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that the actor was originally contracted abroad WandaVision, and now actor Jac Schaeffer has provided some picture of why the plan was eventually rejected:
“When I got on board, the plan was for a handover at the end of the series and for Dr. Strange’s participation to be essentially a short thumbnail. There were varying versions of the two of them in such early outlines. [Wanda and Doctor Strange] kind of riding the sunset together. And it didn’t feel quite right. We wanted to fill Wanda’s free will and independence in this story. So it felt a little contagious.
“The other problem was, if Dr. Strange only shows up at the end, where was he all the time? I loved writing variations on Doctor Strange, variations on those last beats. It was a pleasure to write to him. There were versions Some people might say, ‘It would have been so great to see Dr. Strange,’ but it would have taken Wanda away from what we didn’t want to do. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to move on to the next movie, or to you how power works. “We didn’t want to say that.”
Even though Dr. Strange was away from WandaVision, we don’t have too long to wait for Sorcerer Supreme and Scarlet Witch to share the screen.
A fascinating new series from Marvel Studios WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and marks the first series from Marvel Studios to be streamed exclusively on Disney +.
