It’s official – the Mahindra XUV700 will finally get its world premiere on August 14, 2021; just days before India’s 75th Independence Day. The XUV700 – which marks a generational change from the original XUV500 – has been around for a long time and is set to be released this festive season as activity in the three-row SUV industry continues to accelerate. Since its global release, Mahindra has released a new teaser video that offers a glimpse of the latest addition to the Mahindra XUV family.

Spy images that leaked a few days ago confirmed that the Mahindra XUV700 comes from where the last XUV500 left off, and many design themes were transferred to the new SUV. So there’s a similar rectangular grille with vertical chrome trim and angled LED headlights with an exaggerated interpretation of the ventilated extensions typical of the XUV500. Flush-mounted door handles are segment-specific, and the SUV appears to have 18-inch alloy wheels. The corner theme at the back continues with LED taillights at the back, and the darkened pillars create a floating ceiling impression.

Mahindra has also previously revealed some key details about the interior and features of the Mahindra XUV700, including a fairly clear look at its dashboard. The highlight is the dual screen layout, reminiscent of a pretty modern Mercedes. There’s a fully digital instrument cluster with a new operating system on the touchscreen unit that Mahindra uses as AdrenoX. This system combines Alexa-based voice commands, Sony’s 3D voice system and Zip, Zap and Zoom driving modes (diesel XUV700 only).

This Mahindra XUV700 is based on the new monocoque architecture (internally known as W601). The SUV is expected to come with the same engines introduced on the second-generation Mahindra Thar: a 2.0-liter Stallion turbo petrol with about 190 hp and about 350 Nm, and a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel with a power of almost 190 hp. torque over 400 Nm. Both engines are likely to have a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter. Mahindra has also confirmed that the AWD system is available as an accessory.
