WhatsApp beta: An encrypted backup feature will be available in the future

Recent policy change Thanks to WhatsApp’s privacy settings, the world began to turn its back in the popular messaging application. Now, however WhatsApp has overturned its decision about it and seems to be striving to bring even more privacy features to its users.

WhatsApp’s end-to-end encrypted backups are coming soon

As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Beta allows us to take a peek at the privacy feature that allows encryption of backups stored in Google Drive. You’ll be able to protect your backups, even photos, with a password, and the feature is reportedly becoming available to all WhatsApp users on Android.

As we’ve already said, the feature is under development, so it’s not available to the public, but WABetaInfo says it will be updated. A password protects your backup, while in Google Drive, from unauthorized access, so you can rest assured that your sensitive information, messages, and images are tightly encrypted and hidden from malicious users.

We don’t know when this feature will be enabled. If you want to test new features, you can sign up for the WhatsApp beta from here.
