WhatsApp’s the much talked about disappearing messaging feature is already available for Android users. It looks like iOS users will also get this feature soon. The feature is being tested in the beta version WhatsApp for iOS, reported WABetaInfo. If the report is believed, the feature may soon be available to all iOS users.
The report also reveals that the feature means not only text messages, but also pictures and videos. However, the receiver can take a screenshot of the image and save it to the phone.
According to the report, users can select the “Show once” option, where media files disappear when the recipient opens it. This looks a lot like sending pictures and videos Instagram.
On the other hand, texting takes 7 days before they disappear.
The sender receives a notification when the recipient opens the media file. The sender will also see the “opened” subtitle in place of the uploaded media file in the chatbox. There are still shared screenshots of this lost message in the report.
According to the screenshots, the sender sees not only the “delivered” and “seen” time of the message, but also the “opened” time, which indicates when the recipient opened the file.
